The unmanned aerial system (UAS) of project HEXAB is a six rotor aerial drone capable of doing complete autonomous flights (autopilot). It is well suited for aerial surveillance missions or filming & photography. The UAS is capable of ascending up to 500 meters & has a range of up to 1.5 Kms. With good piloting skills our UAS can fly up to 25-30 mins non stop. Our UAS is equipped with a advanced GPS system which it uses to do autonomous missions. By inputting necessary data & GPS waypoints in the Ground Stations (GCS) supplied, our UAS can take off by itself & fly through the waypoints as instructed by the pilot & land back to the place it took off from, all this autonomously without the need of pilot to control it during the flight. The UAS comes with 4 packs of 10000 mAh batteries designed by HFD which can be replaced within few seconds unlike the old Velcro strap method which consumed time not less than 5 mins & offered less reliability. HFD battery system provides super quick battery change which saves valuable time.
The Ground Control Station (GCS) of project HEXAB is an advanced control system designed by High Fly Drones. It is a combination of Mission Planing unit (GCSMP) & surveillance camera operator (GCSVSO). GCSMP communicates wirelessly with the UAS at all time giving the pilot a real time information about the flight parameters such as Attitude, Heading, Altitude, GPS & more. GCSVSO receives video surveillance signals from the UAS & also controls the pitch, roll & yaw movement of the onboard High resolution camera. The HEXAB GCS also behaves as a black box, it records and saves all the flight data & video received from the UAS in a memory card. Incase the UAS crashes or is lost, the operator can use this saved data to determine the cause of the crash without loosing important video data collected during the flight. The GCS has built in backup supply system which incase of loss of external power provides the GCS backup power for upto 1 Hour without loosing your work & valuable information.
The HEXAB Pilot control Unit (Pi-CU) has been carefully designed & built to give the pilot full control of UAS with complete ease & satisfaction. The HEXAB PCU has a 7" LCD dispaly & a wireless controller. The LCD display give the pilot a first person view form the UAS with the possibility to control the camera's up & down movement using the Knob on the wireless controller. The possibility to move the camera up & down gives the pilot an extra advantage to precisely pinpoint the location where he needs to land the UAS. The LCD screen also displays flight parameters like Attitude, Heading, Altitude, GPS, direction to launch position, GEO Cordinates & more. The HFD Pi-CU is a sofisticated piece of equipment which give pilot the ultimate control of UAS, the controller has special switches to set different flight modes such as Auto pilot, Return Home, Auto Land, Hold Altitude, Hold Position & Manual control.
The HEXAB Charging Station (CS) is a 200 Watt Lithium Polymer (LiPo) & NiMh battery charger designed & developed by HFD. It can charge LiPo battery packs supplied with HEXAB with in a short amount of time compared to other chargers on the market. The HEXAB CS can be used in the field or in a premises with AC power outlet as It has two selectable power inputs 220v AC & 12v DC. During field work you can use the power supply from your car to charge battery packs using this charging station. The easy to use interface makes it less complicated for the operator to charge the battery packs. It is capable of charging & discharging up to 6 cell NiMh & LiPo Batteries. HEXAB CS has balance charging function which gives your battery pack longer life cycle & safe usage. The HEXAB CS is also designed to charge the HEXAB Pilot Control Unit (PCU), it can be charged within 25 minutes which gives the PCU usage time of upto 2 hours.
The HEXAB UAS is equipped with an advanced and high accuracy GPS system which it uses to determine its location, altitude, heading & many other necessary parameters which it needs to successfully conduct autonomous missions. The pilot can input necessary data & GPS waypoints in the Ground Stations (GCS) supplied and program the UAS wirelessly to fly an autonomous mission, the UAS will then take off by itself & fly through the waypoints as instructed by the pilot in the GCS & land back to the place it took off from, all this autonomously without the need of pilot to control it manually during the flight. The HEXAB UAS also uses the GPS to fly on different flight modes such as Auto pilot, Return Home, Auto Land, Hold Altitude & Hold Position. Incase the UAS is lost or crashes, the pilot can use the Ground Control Station (GCS) to pinpoint the last known GPS location of the UAS before the crash in order to plan a recovery mission of the UAS.
The HEXAB GCSVSO is a "Ground Control Station for Video Surveillance Operator", it is designed to receive & save live video which is recorded by the on board High Definition (HD) camera. The GCSVSO displays the live video feed on a 10" LCD screen, the operator can use the LCD screen to see first hand what is being viewed & recorded by the HD camera & at the same time the operator can wirelessly control the Roll, Yaw & Pitch movement of the HD camera using the controller sticks built in the the GCSVSO. There is a USB port to transfer recorded files to a PC & there is also a Memory card (MMC) port built in the GCSVSO to save all the recorded video data. The GCSVSO also behaves as a video black box, in case the UAS crashes, Shot down or is lost, the operator can use this saved video data to determine the cause of the crash without loosing important video data collected during the flight.
The HEXAB GCSMPU is a "Ground Control Station for Mission Planning Unit", it is designed to Wirelessly communicate with the UAS in order to receive realtime flight information such as Attitude, Heading, Altitude, GPS status, GEO Location, Flight modes & more. GSCMP uses 433 MHz wireless telemetry system to maintain communication with the UAS it has a 14" LCD screen with resistive touch screen capability, it is also equipped with a keyboard & touch pad which allows the operator to input data & plan autonomous missions with comfort. GCSMP takes power from GCSVSO & has backup facility in case of loss of power. GCSMP acts as a black box for flight parameters in case of crash or lost, GCSMP records & saves all the flight data/parameters which can be used to determine the cause of crash & begin a rescue mission of the UAS.
The HEXAB UAS is equipped with two cameras, each dedicated for special purposes. The camera on Top is built for pilot's vision which is shown on LCD screen Fixed on Pilot Control Unit (See Above), the pilot's view is displayed on the 7" LCD screen along with flight parameters like Attitude, Heading, Altitude, GPS, direction to launch position, GEO Coordinates & more. The camera for the pilot's view can be tilted up & down by sending commands wirelesslly from the pilot's controller unit, this helps the pilot to make precise landing. The second camera is a surveillance camera which records video in High definition & sends video feed to GCSVSO. This camera is super stabilized, which means regardless of the UAS's movement the camera will maintain stable position with the help of motors to film clear video, the stability of camera is very good when flying in windy or turbulent weather, this camera system has the ability to tilt (Up Down), Pan (Right Left) & Roll (Rotate) which can be done by control sticks on the GCSVSO.
